Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for leading the company general ledger preparation and subsequent financial statement reporting and acts as a subject matter professional to ensure company compliance with respect to US GAAP. This position will review significant accounting estimates and equity instruments, manages engagements with external auditors and tax preparers, manages special projects, and completes ad hoc reporting for Senior Management. This position is also charged with the oversight of the accounts payable, treasury and cash management functions.  In addition, this position will oversee the Accounting Manager and other direct reports.   

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the timely execution and ensures accuracy of the accounting close process led by the Accounting manager
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages the year end close audit with external audit partners
  • Manages other external stakeholder interim audits or financial reviews
  • Develops and maintains accounting policies and procedures
  • Plans for and implements changes in accounting guidance or changes of accounting method in accordance with US GAAP
  • Ensures successful completion and timely filing of the company’s tax filings
  • Prepares consolidated financial statements for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Plans for and manages company’s liquidity needs and oversees cash flow
  • Hires, trains, and develops accounting staff
  • Oversees and manages cash disbursement activity led by the Accounts Payable manager
  • Builds and retains partnerships with other internal company department management and supports operational requests as needed
  • Supports the Executive Management team with ad hoc requests and resolution of issues as needed

Other Responsibilities:

  • Create and support a positive, professional. Team-orientated, harassment free work environment by understanding and complying with company policies
  • Regular and consistent attendance is expected
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Accounting, prior management experience preferred
  • Experience with performing complex accounting research and technical activities
  • Experience with accounting general ledger ERP software, experience with Financial Force preferred
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.

  • Supervises an Accounting Manager, Senior and Staff Accountants

  • Travel Percentage - <10%
  • Expected Hours of work Full-Time Monday-Friday.
