Responsibilities

Job Summary

Oversees day-to-day clinical responsibilities, by monitoring the quality of services provided by staff by reviewing therapy sessions and guiding counselors in developing appropriate patient interventions, and treatment plans in accordance to industry standards.  Conducts ongoing assessments of the effectiveness of the treatment programs, and works with the Director to ensure program efficiency. Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Clinical Manager, is responsible for providing ongoing clinical supervision of all counselors and ensures treatment services and documentation are consistently delivered.  Clinical Manager works closely with the Director to ensure programing is being adhered to for Outpatient Services. Possesses a complete knowledge of DSM and ASAM criteria. This position ensures that clinical services fosters an atmosphere of customer service and excellence. The Assistant Director also, ensures that the patient’s family and/or significant others are engaged in the treatment process by personalized and tailored services to address the individual needs of our patients. Ensures the clinical counseling staff are highly trained and proficient in the delivery of clinical services. Offers weekly supervision and training. Participated in the Administrator on Call Rotation monthly.  Participates in leadership meetings when indicated, ensures excellent quality relationships with the front desk, utilization review, and case management teams.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision for counselors providing individual and group therapy and counseling sessions and documents appropriate supervision logs.
  • Provides consultations on an as needed basis.  Documents in record and communicates to team results of sessions.
  • Conducts initial assessments on assigned patients on an as needed basis to support the team workloads.
  • Recommends to treatment team any specialized services identified for patients either while the patient is in treatment or as part of aftercare.  Uses professional knowledge base to recommend programs and providers.
  • Conducts quality chart monitoring.
  • Provides input in OP budgeting and planning.
  • Monitors group programing.
  • Overseeing counseling and case management schedules
  • Provides mentoring and/or coaching to other staff consistent with Assistant Director y skills.
  • Serves as a clinical consultant on complex and sensitive cases.
  • Participates in after hour’s on-call supervision, as needed, and included in AOC rotation.
  • Develops and conducts staff training activities to improve their clinical practice.
  • Develops and write protocols as requested.
  • Maintains group assignments chart and keep track of coverage substitutions.
  • Perform quarterly audits of active and closed charts.
  • Review documentation in electronic health record, and co-sign utilization review initial assessments, treatment plans, biopsychosocial assessments, and discharge summaries.
  • Liaison with families of Patients as request during intake, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Responsible and accountable for managing direct reports.
  • Preparation and presentation of performance evaluations; provides objective feedback to employees thru supervision.
  • Provides appropriate training for clinical staff and hold staff accountable for attending required training(s).
  • Oversees all clinical services and documentation are delivered at the programs assigned, including clinical oversight of counselors in the facility.
  • Ensures clinical services are delivered ensuring fidelity to AdCare’s clinical plan, philosophy, model, design, and methodology.
  • Ensures patients are admitted into the appropriate modality and that their length of stay is individualized based on their clinical needs and treatment plan.
  • Works closely with the director of outpatient services to ensure a seamless continuum of care within AdCare’s various treatment modalities.
  • Responsible for implementation and monitoring of continuing care protocols ensuring a seamless continuum within inpatient services and referrals to AdCare Outpatient services/programs ensuring AdCare’s continuum is fully utilized.
  • Conducts psychological/behavioral consults and neuropsychological screens as needed.
  • Conducts suicide risk assessments/SBQ-R as needed.
  • Ensures the program has a resource guide that includes information on a wide variety of external continuing care providers and that this guide is accessible to all staff and updated routinely as needed.
  • Conducts quarterly training reviewing AdCare’s continuing care protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of services and programs within AdCare’s continuum of care and conducts quarterly reviews during group supervision.
  • Ensures continuing care begins upon admission.
  • Implements and maintains a system of ensuring that all clinical documentation bundles (assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, continuing care plans, etc.) are completed within the established timelines.
  • Responsible for the consistent delivery of the family engagement and supportive counseling when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge with respect to the clinical standards of DPH, BSAS, Joint and other governing entities and ensures their requirements are reflected in daily clinical practice within the program.
  • Serves as a team leader and role model for all staff within the program on promoting the structure and rules of the program.
  • Conducts group quality supervision, for staff who facilitate groups a minimum of two (2) times per month in their first 90-days of employment, and a minimum of quarterly for those in 90-days, there to document each group on the Group Quality Inventory form.
  • Per licensing, ensures supervision is provided a minimum of bi-weekly (individual or group) for all full-time counseling staff, monthly for part-time staff, and maintains documentation on the appropriate forms and in a systematic manner.
  • Co-facilitates with the Director of Outpatient Services multi-disciplinary team meetings documented in the appropriate meeting forms and that documentation of these are maintained in a systematic manner.
  • Reviews a minimum of twenty (20) clinical records per month of each, counselor and case management staff for compliance with licensing standards, completeness, timeliness, and AdCare’s quality documentation standards. As applicable/assigned.
  • Ensures that any documentation needed for utilization review purposes such as, but not limited to, authorizations for continued stay, discharge summaries and authorization review forms, are completed daily including by covering counselors on days in which the primary counselors are not in the program.
  • Ensures competency of all counseling staff in use of the EMR, electronic forms, documents, and routing procedures as it pertains to their role.
  • In collaboration with the Director implement assigned QI (quality improvement) plans ensuring all data, reports, project updates and corrective action plans as they relate to clinical services are collected and submitted to QI within established timeframes.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities and complete duties in the allotted time.
  • Assists with crisis management and other emergencies as needed.
  • Strictly adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies when responding to inquiries for patient information or copies of information.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of the programs’ emergency preparedness plan and emergency procedures.
  • Participates in all required mandatory trainings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Monitors adherence to company and department policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Treats patients, and colleagues with dignity and respect; honors each person’s right to privacy; maintains very strict patient and colleague confidentiality; respects all individual differences; supports cultural diversity.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, attending hospital sponsored CEU programs, etc. Provides documentation of CEUs at annual performance review.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in a behavioral sciences or mental health related field required, 5 years experience in a mental health setting required.
  • LICSW, or LMHC required
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Certificates and Licenses:

LICSW, LMHC, LMFT

CPR Preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Oversight of all clinical and case management staff in Worcester OP and Remote sites.

 

Other Work Requirements:

Participates as active member of specific task committees as delegated.

 

Consistently arrive for work on time and adhere to attendance policies.
