Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist (TOX; PRN weekend coverage) will assist the clinical functions at  Addiction Labs of America with PRN Weekend coverage.


Report To: Laboratory Supervisor


Job Duties:

  • Responsible for instrument calibrations twice a year and responsible for all data entry after verifications and correlations are completed to be CAP compliant.
  • Responsible for weekly prep of all TOX calibrators and quality controls and regiment prep.
  • Responsible for bringing and reporting new analytes to TOX.
  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results.
  • Maintain records which demonstrate the proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
  • Follow the laboratory's policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory 's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the appropriate supervisor.
  • Document all corrective action taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory 's established performance specifications.
  • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
  • Stock supplies and monitor inventory.
  • Train new employees as needed.
  • Communicate pertinent section information/issues to supervisor or another appropriate individual.
  • Support management and supervision in terms of inspection and audit if needed.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Technician licensed by the State of Tennessee to perform high complexity testing as defined by CLIA.
  • MS Excel and Word as well as statistical software competency.
  • Working knowledge of computer-based information gathering and analysis.
  • Candidates in recovery must have 2+ years of sobriety.
