AdCare Rhode Island is a 59-bed inpatient alcohol and drug treatment center with a mission of providing transformational recovery experiences to individuals struggling with substance dependence.

 

The state-of-the-art facility is nestled on 22 acres of peaceful New England woodland in historic North Kingstown. The campus is conveniently located just minutes away from both the airport and downtown Providence. AdCare RI is also located close to pristine beaches and recreational areas.  The newly renovated facility is outfitted with semi-private rooms with baths, fitness center, basketball court, and many other amenities.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Dietary Supervisor coordinates activities and directs training of cooks and other kitchen staff engaged in preparing and cooking foods to ensure an efficient and profitable food service.  Will assist with food preparation, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards following established food production programs and procedures.  Assume the responsibilities of the Assistant Director in his/her absence. Must be available to open and close units. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Must be flexible and available when on call.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares menus/cards for serving line highlighting allergies and noting preferences. Updates patient census by deleting discharges/AMA/ and transfers while accounting for phased patients.
  • Assembles all nutritional supplements, additional snacks and sandwiches.
  • Knows all job functions OP/Menu/Café/Utility/Cook to assist and guide as needed.
  •  Assist in the training of new employees.
  • Responsible for accurate and complete shift turnover, status updates on ongoing or completed repairs, as well as updates on any incidents occurring during the shift. 
  • Responsible for finding replacements for any and all call outs on your shift and any shift callout that you are notified of.
  • Prepares or oversees preparation of patient trays to ensure diet accuracy.
  • Trains and oversees dietary personnel in the efficient service of meals, sanitation and other policies and procedures.
  • Conducts startup and closing functions of the department.
  • Performs cafeteria accounting procedures.
  • Receives and authenticates deliveries
  • Oversees and assists in the cafeteria with setup and serving.
  • Prepare desserts and some salads.
  • Coordinates and sets up special functions

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalency.  College or culinary courses are preferable.                       
  • Serve Safe (Sanitation) Certification required within three (3) months of hire.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Some knowledge of therapeutic diets.  Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Two years of related food service experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience required. 
  • If in personal recovery, a minimum of one year continuous abstinence is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
  • The ability to respond to sounds quickly
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying additional weight
  • The ability to work in extreme weather conditions
  • The ability to wear protective gear correctly
  • Must be able to complete and pass a work-related physical evaluation

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Serve Safe (Sanitation) Certification required within three (3) months of hire
