Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Oversees the urinalysis process, collects and analyzes specimens to determine normal or abnormal findings.
  • Responsible for laboratory documentation/reports, and forwarding lab results to the ordering physician for validation and confirmation.
  • Responsible for the UDS processing.
  • Log preliminary and final data from medical tests and enter results into medical records database.
  • Controls the ordering procedures and inventory of supplies.
  • Must maintain scheduled completion deadlines; demonstrating self-paced performance and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Cross-trains and supports others as needed or requested by supervisor.
  • Will perform other duties as needed during down time or waiting.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate, Certified Phlebotomy Tech or Associates in Laboratory Science or a postsecondary certificate of completion from a clinical laboratory training program. Licensed or Registered Technicians preferred.
  • Prefer three years’ experience in a medical laboratory technician role in a healthcare facility; hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients and their family members through the FRN Model of Treatment.
  • Ability to adhere to regulatory standards, including CARF.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Must have general knowledge of a variety of computer software applications (MS Office, Google Products, electronic medical records). 
  • Requires analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and thoroughness, and ability to check own work to ensure quality and accuracy.
