Responsibilities

Job Summary

This position involves the facilitation of Equine assisted therapy groups for all patients as well as skills assessments as part of the initial assessment process.  The position will develop and implement equine activity plans that are age appropriate, consistent with level of growth, development and functioning of the patients we serve and consistent with the overall treatment plans/goals.  This includes maintaining a schedule of arena and trail rides. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends team meetings and keeps supervisor, therapists, and other staff members informed as to patient progress.
  • Provides all required documentation of clinical course in approved format.
  • Conducts groups and therapeutic activities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Conducts individualized patient therapy.
  • Conducts equine groups for Residential/Resolutions program patients.
  • Oversees trail rides keeping a patient to staff ratio of 5:1
  • Oversees and assures patient safety during equine programming.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the Equine Program and the Equestrian Center.
  • Oversees the care and feeding of horses.
  • Participates in clinical supervision as needed.
  • Timely completion of progress notes and other required documentation.
  • Communicates relevant information to BHT’s and other staff.
  • Advises treatment team and other staff of potential problems.
  • Reports problems to appropriate supervisor.
  • Provides facility with current licensure and certifications.
  • Participates in continuing education courses, as required by licensure and/or certification and provides copy to facility.
  • Maintains current CPR and CPI certification.
  • Conducts leisure skills assessments as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or a related field required.
  • Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling or a related field preferred.
  • Certification required or is actively working toward CEALS certification or related certification.
  • CEALS or related certification required OR must obtain this certification (or related certification) within 6 months of hire. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft & Google Products.
