    Job Summary:

     

    Patient Financial Information & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of patients’ financial responsibilities and benefits.

    Responsibilities

    Job Duties:

    • Advises Admission Team of patient deductibles, co-pays, or outstanding balances necessary for billing.
    • Meets with patients and/or guarantor to arrange collection of any payment not collected prior to admission.
    • Forwards all collections and associated documentation to call center.
    • Coordinates information with the billing department to ensure all associated documentation needed for billing is received in a timely manner.
    • Documents communication with patients and or guarantor regarding financial agreements in appropriate operating platforms.
    • Works cooperatively with other departments to ensure patients are aware of benefit limitations.
    • Reviews insurance notes daily to confirm authorization of patients’ length of stay.
    • Meets with patients to obtain proof of insurance premium payments.
    • Meets with patients to update COB’s and employment verifications as required.
    • Communicates and responds daily with call center regarding patient financial responsibility and/or insurance.
    • Meets with patients and/or families to explain insurance coverage. Responds to questions and concerns regarding billing.
    • Meets with patients who need continued care to develop private pay/financial agreements.
    • Complete/add any forms as required.
    • Monitors and updates all operating platforms as required.
    • Maintains and develops required reports as requested by Director of Patient Services.
    • Maintains compliance with insurance contractual obligations.
    • Maintains compliance with all AAC policies and procedures.
    • Maintains compliance with state regulations.
    • Supports and promotes an environment of Customer Service.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

    • High School graduate or equivalent.
    • Finance/insurance background preferred.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Ability to shift priorities to meet departmental needs.
    • Ability to plan and utilize time and resources effectively.
    • Demonstrates drive and commitment.
    • Ability to maintain communication with poise and professionalism in conflictive situations.
    • Ability to discuss need for continued stay in an informed and professional manner.
