Job Summary:

The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning client bedrooms, offices, common areas and any other indoor areas of facility as directed by manager.  This position is also responsible for removing coffee cups, drinking glasses, and dinnerware from dining and sitting areas; wiping all furniture and fluffing pillows as needed, and trash removal from offices, Nurses’ station, and restrooms located throughout facility.


Reports To: Housekeeping Manager




Job Duties:

  • Patient room cleaning

    • Remove soiled linens and towels from the room and replace with clean ones.
    • Replenish toilet paper and paper products
    • Clean bathrooms, counters, vanity area, wipe mirrors, clean sinks and wipe base boards and window sills
    • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust common areas and bedrooms.
    • Pull all trash and take to dumpster
    • Deep clean empty rooms

    Office cleaning

    • Sweep and mop or vacuum as appropriate
    • Pull all trash and take to dumpster
    • Dust furniture

    Dining room cleaning

    • Sweeps and mops floors throughout lunch service, and conducts a deep clean at the conclusion of lunch service
    • Cleans windows and baseboards
    • Wipes down shelves, tables, and drink area as needed

    Non-patient room cleaning (lobbies, conference rooms, employee work areas, etc)

    • Sweep and mop or vacuum as appropriate
    • Pull all trash and take to dumpster
    • Wipe down tables/shelves/surfaces
    • Clean windows and baseboards

    Common bathroom cleaning

    • Sweep and mop floors
    • Clean toilets
    • Wipe down sinks, countertops/surfaces
    • Replenish paper products
    • Pull all trash and take to dumpster


    • Wash, dry, and fold towels and linens
    • Replenish linens in linen closet and keep linen closet organized (including, but not limited to ensuring that no linens touch the floor)

    Any other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Director of Operations, within the recognized scope of the position.


    Other Job Duties – As Assigned

    • Pulling trash from outdoor receptacles and take to dumpster
    • Clean ceiling fans and vents as needed


Job Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or ability to read and write at the high school level 
    • One year of commercial housekeeping experience preferred 
    • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.  
    • Basic computer literacy 
    • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours. 
    • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training within 60 days of hire 
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support within 60 days of hire    
    • Valid driver license and insurable driving record (refer to Guidelines for Driving Company Vehicles)   
    • If in personal recovery, a minimum of 2 years sustained recovery
