    Job Summary

    We are looking for a Patient Collections Specialist who can help collect patient responsibility payments including deductible, coinsurance, copayment, and insurance payments paid to the patient.  This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the continued success of treating addiction at American Addiction Centers.  We are looking for a team player who is excited to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment with no hesitancy to reach out and respond to clients regarding their patient bill.


    • Monitor new admissions to AAC’s facilities with insurance that designates a potential “paid to patient” case, taking precaution steps when client falls into the high-risk classification.
    • Share responsibility in sending welcome packets to clients with an insurance policy that sends claim payments to the patient. This packet includes instructions on how to forward checks to the corporate office.
    • Verify addresses and contact information for post-treatment follow up.
    • Assist in sending monthly statements.
    • Initiate contact with clients by working reports to collect patient balance via mail, phone, and email.
    • Compile data from billing systems and payment arrangements to validate patient responsibility with the ability to explain and answer questions to client.
    • Work with clients needing financial assistance to negotiate a solid payment plan that fits the client’s needs.
    • Document communication with clients in Salesforce.
    • Attend weekly team meetings and individual meetings as called.
    • Communicate immediately with supervisors on any insurance issues, trends or reimbursement setbacks that may affect cash flow by monitoring insurance accounts.
    • Contributes to the team effort by performing special projects and other duties as assigned.
    • Available to work 40 hours per week. The work week for this team allows for longer hours Mon-Thurs and fewer hours on Friday.

    • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Disciplined to manage time and focus on tasks to achieve team goals.
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong verbal and written skills with ability to resolve questions and ask for complete payment.
    • Understanding of general health insurance terms
    • Ability to respond to customer complaints in order to change customer perception to a positive.
    • Detail-oriented and acceptance of a challenge.
    • Strong problem solving, problem prevention and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain composure and restore calm in a stressful situation.
    • Comfortable speaking with clients, family members, and insurance companies as needed.
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service
    • Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
    • Self-motivated to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Working knowledge of computer functions; Salesforce and Microsoft Office a plus.
    • Experience in collections or sales preferred.
