Job Summary

The Help Desk Technician I is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software, responding to queries, running diagnostic programs, isolating problems, and determining/implementing a solution. The Help Desk Technician spends a lot of time with people and so must be patient, kind, and able to communicate effectively with employees to ensure they are fully supported.

  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Respond to queries either in person, over the phone, or via email, and follow up with customers to ensure issue has been resolved.
  • Run reports to determine malfunctions that continue to occur
  • Install computer peripherals for users.
  • Maintain daily performance of computer systems.
  • Write training manuals and/or train computer users.
  • Ask questions to determine nature of problem
  • Walk customer through problem-solving processes
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software.
  • Clean up computers and Execute cable management at workstations.
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems.
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems.
  • Gain feedback from customers about computer usage.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Other Job Duties – As Assigned

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  •  High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office.
  • Mac OS 10.X and iOS experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision required to drive an automobile, if driving is a requirement of the job.
  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving light traffic.
