Recovery Support Counselor Per Diem

Job Summary

Per Diem Position. The Recovery Support Counselor (RSC) assists patients by appropriately guiding them through difficulties or crises, facilitating interactive educational and support groups, and supporting patients by helping them to process their progress or become aware of any obstacles to their recovery. The Recovery Support Counselor ensures that their support is consistently delivered in accordance with AdCare’s clinical design specific to the program and is delivered in a manner that can demonstrate sound outcomes reducing relapse from alcohol and other drugs. This position fosters an atmosphere of customer service and excellence in service delivery. The Recovery Support Counselor provides personalized and tailored support to address the individual needs of our patients by consistently adhering to our mission and values. 

Qualifications

• Prefer Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Counseling certification from an accredited institution preferred.
• 6 -12 months experience working in a substance abuse environment 2 years’ preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to their specific problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, and other members of staff.
• Knowledge and experiences in running groups, meetings and/or activities.
• Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to assess appropriate response to crisis and determine client needs.
• Knowledge and ability in use of motivational interviewing.
• Ability to work as needed, including on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays to address crises.

All positions require a TST, MMR Titer, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, including THC and a CORI background records check.
