Job Summary


Provide ongoing supervision and support to Crisis Intervention Counselors.  Complete biopsychosocial assessments and interpretive summaries on assigned patients and develop behaviors/symptoms-based treatment plans for each patient assessed.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision for staff such as: de-escalation with patients, consultation regarding clinical issues, co-ordinate with clinician on call.
  •  Conduct initial job interviews for Crisis Intervention Counselor (CIC) positions.
  •  Coordinate internships.
  •  Work closely with nursing supervisor to stay apprised of issues on the units and assist to manage any behavioral issues.
  •  Complete monthly monitors for QTC.
  •  Random chart review to ensure compliance.
  •  Assist in facilitating quality improvement teams.
  •  Remain available to counseling and nursing staff to help manage any clinical issues.
  •  Complete performance evaluations and constructive counseling in a timely manner in collaboration with the Treatment Director and VP of Clinical Services.
  •  Keep Program Manager/VP of Clinical Services apprised of situations within the hospital providing evening shift report daily.
  •  Complete biopsychosocial assessments and interpretive summaries on assigned patients.
  • Obtain input from patients’ collateral contacts, family, referral source and other providers.
  • Develop behaviors/symptoms-based treatment plans for each patient assessed
  • Conduct family sessions as indicated.
  • Conduct group counseling and develops group activities.
  • Writes (prepares) discharge plan, with patient input, what the next treatment steps are beyond inpatient.
  •  Consistently arrive for work on time and adhere to attendance policies.
  •  Treat patients, visitors and colleagues with dignity and respect; honors each person’s right to privacy; maintains very strict patient and colleague confidentiality; respects all individuals’ differences; supports cultural diversity in our organization; and follows the core competencies of the Standard of Excellence.



  • CADC or LADC or independent license elibigble within 6 months of hire.
  • Master’s degree in Psychology or enrolled with anticipated completion within one year of hire.
  •  Good interpersonal and clinical skills including oral and written communication.   
  • Good de-escalation skills.
  • At least one year previous, supervised experience with substance abusing or dually diagnosed populations, one year previous supervisory experience.  Meets BSAS definition of Clinician or Senior Clinician
  • Receives indirect or occasional supervision. Works towards a definite objective using a variety of methods or procedures. Plans and arranges own work and only refers to the supervisor for unusual matters, such as policy interpretations. Moderate flexibility.
