Job Summary

The EMR Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and configuration of the EMR/EHR system(s) and all ancillary systems supporting patient care. The EMR Systems Administrator will interact with various departments and roles (clinical staff, clinical applications team, training/ implementation team, and leadership). This position requires active engagement with end-users to determine security profiles, system configuration, accessibility, order sets and template creation to tailor system features to meet company, facility and end-user requirements. This position is also responsible for providing support to the Clinical Application Specialists within the team to ultimately keep user satisfaction high. Strong understanding of facility operations and computing needs are required so that this role can provide support, research, education, and business administration related to enterprise clinical applications.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with leadership, end-users, and team members to plan and implement clinical system/application setup and configuration
  • Provision user access in clinical systems/applications based on roles via pre-assigned security group settings
  • Document security settings, groups, and roles for clinical systems/applications
  • Develop, document and test templates (notes, assessments, reports) and order sets (clinical and medication batch orders) in the EMR
  • Work with Manager of Clinical Applications to ensure content additions, changes, upgrades, releases, etc. are tested, work properly, and are communicated to users by practicing proper change management procedures
  • Work with Manager of Clinical Applications to analyze workflow and demand to ensure that the system optimizes productivity and accountability of users
  • Provides go-live and post go-live support on issues relating to workflow problems and system configuration within EMR, E-prescribing, lab interfaces, and the pharmacy interfaces
  • Develops and maintains system configuration knowledge base that includes company protocols for clinical/medical order sets and templates (i.e., approval process for template creation and content adjustment prior to actual configuration and deployment)
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position, including following all HIPAA guidelines when accessing, using, and training the EMR
  • Manage vendor relationships and commuication for enterprise clinical application (specifically EMR) vendor
  • Ability to work efficiently and reliably in a remote setting
  • Other job duties as assigned


Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • An equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education may substitute for degree
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience managing Electronic Medical Record (EMR)/Electronic Health Record (EHR) system(s)
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing and/or healthcare experience
  • Behavioral health/healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently or collaboratively and ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Strong computer literacy and comfort; ability and desire to advance technically and understand industry standards
  • Strong project management, communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Other Work Requirements:

  • Travel Percentage- 25% or less
  • Expected Hours of work -Full-Time (typically 8a-5p, Monday-Friday, (must be able to cover Pacific Time Zone) (weekends as needed) with rotating on-call schedule
  • Ability to work efficiently and reliably in a remote setting
