Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Capable to access & review spread sheets (census), superbills and billing software to accurately bill insurance claims.
  • Balance all billed charges at the end of each day.
  • Prepare and generate clean claims to submit via clearinghouse and/or postal mail by monitoring and/or data entry of correct information needed on a claim.
  • Identify and correct billing errors as needed and obtain any missing information to ensure payment of claims
  • Monitor facility level of care authorized versus level of care loaded to ensure the status of pending charges match the facility billed services.
  • Proficient in working rejections from clearinghouses such as Zirmed, Availity and Exchange Healthcare.
  • Periodically review and follow-up on outstanding insurance claims.
  • Work closely with the aging teams to ensure all resubmitted claims are sent daily.
  • Able to be present at work at the end of each month for month end close and knowledgably of all end month processes
  • Communicate immediately with supervisors on any insurance issues, trends, reimbursement setbacks, or facility communication issues that may affect cash flow by monitoring insurance accounts.
  • Work closely with management to assure communication of information necessary to ensure efficient processes are understood and implemented in accordance with policies and procedures. 



  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimun of  at least 2 years’ medical billing experience required.
  • Medical billing certification a plus.
  • Must be familiar with UB04’s and HCFA’s.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  •  Uses effective communication skills.  Uses communication technologies efficiently.
  • Performs accurate data entry.  Consistently works to improve error rate.
  • Employs general math skills and statistical analysis when appropriate. Able to analyze information and problem solve.
  • Acts responsibly and follows professional code of conduct as set forth by senior personnel. 
  • Utilizes excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and other technology and software as assigned.
  • Multitasks while maintaining attention to detail.  Works in a highly organized and efficient manner.
  • Maintains a high level of reliability, dedication and initiative.
  • Must be highly organized and able to multitask effectively.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Possesses the ability to take direction well.
