Responsibilities

Job Summary

Per Diem Position. Prepare salads, desserts and other specialty items according to the menu and standard recipes. Monitors inventory and creates order sheet by vendor. Oversees the cleaning of the cafeteria by establishing a cleaning schedule and logging individual progress. Cleans, refills, and monitors the soda room contacting all vendors when service is required. Collaborates with staff to determine, schedule and oversee the weekly specials. Sets up cafeteria. Serving and waiting on patients, staff and visitors in a professional manner ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Inventory all cafeteria food creating order list for each vendor. Contact vendors to place orders, receive orders, and deal with vendors regarding shortages and credits.

  • Preparation of salads, desserts and other specialty items in sufficient quantities to meet customer forecast. Baking pies, muffins, cakes and cookies as needed to ensure a variety of desserts for customers.
  • Prepare cafeteria setup for patients, staff and visitors meal service.
  • Operate cash register and follow appropriate cash handling procedures.
  • Serves patients, staff and visitors in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Cleans & sanitizes: cafeteria/dining room, steam table, salad bar, beverage counter, tables etc. Documents completion of tasks to ensure cafeteria cleaning schedule is met. Further verifies, thru documentation and completion of task that other cleaning duties were performed i.e. glass cleaning, stainless steel wiped down, window sills and high dusting.
  • Food service equipment and beverage dispensers:  Inspect, clean/sanitize and monitor soda room. Duties include ordering the soda, and CO2 tanks. Ensuring all  lines have sufficient product (heavy lifting includes refilling the Bag in a Box product) and properly connecting the product to the lines. Contacting the vendor with any service related issues, reports to the supervisor steps taken to resolve the issue(s) and double checks to make sure the problem has been resolved. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Serve Safe Certificate preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English and use of basic math.
  • Basic computer skills required- Word, Excel, email and order entry.
  • Previous experience in food service preparation preferred
